HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM SERVICED?

Depending on the age and type of air conditioner you have, it should be serviced atleast once per year. We recommend having your air conditioner serviced in the spring time before it gets too hot. HOW CAN I LOWER MY ENERGY BILLS?

Since a large majority of your home or building’s energy is used by your heating & cooling system, it’s always best to find creative ways to save on energy consumption. A few things we recommend for those looking to improve their energy-efficiency is to upgrade to a new air conditioning system, have an energy audit conducted, and have your existing system tuned-up and cleaned regularly.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CHANGE MY AIR FILTER?

This frequency at which you should change your air filter depends on the kind of air filter you use, if you have animals, and other factors that may weigh into how often dirt and debris may enter your home. However, we generally recommend changing your air filter every 30 – 90 days to ensure your system continues to operate properly and you maintain healthy indoor air quality. Products such as media filters typically last longer, and can be replaced less often.

WHAT IS SEER?

Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) is a rating that indicates how efficient an air conditioning unit is. So, theoretically the higher the SEER rating, the more efficient the unit will be. Currently, the industry minimum SEER rating for a new air conditioning system is 13, but that will be changing in 2023.

HOW LONG DO AIR CONDITIONERS TYPICALLY LAST?

Residential heating and cooling systems typically last 10 to 15 years. However, this can range higher and lower depending on how often you have maintenance conducted to the system, how often you run the system, and if it was installed properly. If your air conditioner is 10 years or older, you are typically better off to consider getting it replaced with a new one.
